Carlie (she/they) is the go-to authority on all things sexual health education.
Carlie has been working in the Sexual & Reproductive Health field as a specialized sexual health educator for over a decade across Canada. She has a Bachelor of Kinesiology in Leadership in Pedagogy and Coaching from the University of Calgary and a Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health from the University of Alberta. She is now pursuing an PhD in Sexual Health at the University of British Columbia, focussed on improving youth access to sexual health information and services. She is also the founder and president of the Canadian SUEDE Society - a venture dedicated to making top-tier comprehensive sexual health education accessible for free to schools across Canada via digital tools. Her work experience with multiple public health sectors, and top tier sexual health researchers paired with her countless hours as one of the only specialists ever to have taught kindergarten through grade 12 out in the community providing sexual health has made Carlie THE authority when it comes to sex ed.
As a professional, Carlie has vast experience facilitating sexual health education to youth and adults in classrooms, community networks, rehabilitation programs, and professional development for service providers. Carlie is an enthusiastic, warm facilitator who is always working to stay current and craft new meaningful content for her clients. She has experience in developing large scale sexual health education resources as well as developing and implementing best practice sexuality education for various audiences. She has delivered her meticulously crafted curriculum to hundreds of thousands of students across multiple school districts, health authorities, corrections departments, and post secondary institutions in Canada.
Carlie is a grateful but uninvited guest on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver, BC. Here, Carlie can provide face to face or online offerings. She is available for sessions across Canada by telecommute options or travel in some cases (COVID-19 dependant).
